Spiritual Support

When I approach a wedding I don't just see myself as performing a transaction or performing a special role limited to that day. I am part of a community throughout the world which seeks to make the world a better place for all people and for the environment itself. Many people are hindered in their lives by limiting beliefs about themselves. Some of these harmful beliefs may have been formed through our experiences of life and contributed to by religious leaders or people who used religion to control us in some way. Sadly many of us are taught to be afraid of God or to view God as one who punishes us if we do something wrong rather than one who loves us thoroughly, freely and without conditions. We bring all sorts of ideas, influences and experiences into our relationships which can play havoc with them. Spiritual support or pastoral support can assist people move beyond these limiting beliefs and to find much more fulfilling relationships.

People can easily lose their way or purpose in life following the death of a loved one. When I conduct a funeral I can also assist people in talking through issues that may not have arisen before. I am available for contact long after the funeral has taken place. I can also recommend counsellors who specialise in grief counselling etc.

I am happy to be involved with same sex relationship ceremonies even though same sex marriage is not yet legally recognised in New South Wales nor by the Uniting Church. I look forward to the day when I can legally be the celebrant for a same sex marriage. I am very comfortable speaking with people about their sexuality. I am happy to talk through issues.
